Formerly the Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, the Australian Human Rights Commission is an independent statutory body responsible for administrating and conducting investigations into alleged breaches of 5 anti-discrimination acts that apply nationally ie the Racial Discrimination Act 1975, the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Act 1984, the Sex Discrimination Act 1984, the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, the Age Discrimination Act 2004.
